Pink oyster mushrooms can be called a healthy luxury food, because they bring a strong texture and flavor to every meal without adding a lot of calories. Once cooking begins, their color quickly changes to an orange-brown hue, darkening over time.
When cooked, their flavor and texture are reminiscent of ham and bacon, especially when sautéed in a pan with oil. If cooked until crispy, they resemble crispy bacon bits!
Common preparation methods include stewing, boiling, baking or frying, and they go well with sautéed vegetables, added to pasta dishes, pizzas, stews and soups. They also go well with peppers, parsley, basil, garlic, ginger, onions, sesame oil, even soy sauce.
